    Kutch Craft tour (7 days and 8 nights) : A tour to one of the most colourful state in India includes a peek into the diverse crafts and culture of this place. The trip takes you across the state from Ahmedabad to Bhuj with a rapidly changing landscape from grasslands to the salt deserts at Kutch. There is wide variety of birds and it has Asia’s only wild ass sanctuary at little Rann.

    It will be an opportunity to interact with the craftsmen and visit the craft communities with a textile designer


    Day 1. Arrival at Ahmedabad. Our tour begins with a visit to the Calico museum with exhibits the Gujrati textiles of bygone times to the present one. We would visit markets and shops that sell local wares. Also included is a visit to Gufa ni Ahmedvad, a unique art expo created by well known artist MF Hussain. Evening dinner is at an authentic Gujrati restaurant for an introduction to the states cuisine.

    Day 2,3,4. Overnight train to Bhuj. Day program includes visit to the beautiful Aina Mahal. A visit to Bhujodi village to learn about traditional weaving of Kutch, Ajrakhpur village for block printing demo, drive up north in Banni (Desert) via visiting Sumrasar where organisations are working at grassroot level to help artisans. They have beautiful museum and fancy shop. The hub of Bell making, Rogan Art and Lacquer work from Nirona village.

    In between these visits we would treated to indefinite number of tea and converstions. We will also be relishing some interesting Gujrati cuisine of the area.

    Overnight stay at the Hoodka village with its mud homes and beautifully created village atmosphere will be etched in our memories.

    Besides all the craft exposure it is essential to visit the Banni grasslands to appreciate the natural beauty the region. A number of migratory birds visit this area. A wild life safari of this area will enable you to see the diversity of this area.

    On the way back to Ahmedabad we shall halt at Dasada for a safari at the Little Rann of kutch desert for the wild ass viewing.

    All in all the 6 days will be a veritable kaleidoscope of images that you carry home and you can look forward to like-minded company, good food, state of the art accommodation and able hosts.

    A. You have get there on your own. Either by train or flight and Ahmedabad is connected to all major cities in India.

    Q. What kind of accommodation do you provide during the stay.

    A. In Ahmedabad, you will stay at an intimate heritage hotel in Ahmedabad and the rest of the nights will be in authentic cottages and even traditional ‘kaboo huts’ situated on the outskirts of Bhuj, and beyond, an ideal base for experiencing all that Kutch offers
